TFB AGFUND successful in primary runoff
5/23/2018

Texas Farm Bureau Friends of Agriculture Fund (AGFUND), Inc. had a successful night in the primary runoff elections.

“We need elected officials who bring accountability and an understanding of agriculture to our state and national government,” Russell Boening, president of TFB and AGFUND, said. “Candidates endorsed by AGFUND had a successful night in the primary runoff elections, which is a good sign for the influence of Texas’ farm and ranch families.”

AGFUND-supported candidates won four of the six Texas House races. In the congressional races, an AGFUND-supported candidate won one of the two races.

Keith Bell won House District 4; Cody Harris won House District 8; Ben Leman won House District 13; and Reggie Smith won House District 62.

Lance Gooden was successful in the Congressional District 5 race.

Boening noted the runoff election victories added to AGFUND’s already successful primary election results.

“In the primaries, AGFUND backed 58 winning candidates, including several pro-agricultural leaders who will be champions for farm and ranch families and rural Texans,” Boening said.

Texas Farm Bureau is the state’s largest organization of farm, ranch and rural families. AGFUND is its political action arm funded by voluntary donations from members.

Federal law prohibits Texas Farm Bureau AGFUND from soliciting contributions outside the restricted class. Contributions will be screened and those from persons outside the restricted class will be returned.
